State Eye Bank

The State Eye Bank is situated in the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati and it is functioning since 1960. With the advancement of technology, this Eye Bank is giving lots of benefits to the needy patients in recent years. It is now possible to collect corneas without removing the eye from the deceased and the collected corneas can be preserved in media for a longer period.

Donate Your Eyes

Donation of Eyes after death to the nation for therapeutic use can restore joys of sight to the blind. The relatives of the deceased have a major role to play so that wishes of their beloved can be fulfilled. They have to inform the Eye Bank immediately so that the doctors can collect the corneas within four hours after death of the donor. Interested donors may fill-up the Pledge Card for donation of eyes after death and send it by post to the State Eye Bank in the following address:
