Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Gauhati medical college is a leading centre for treatment of pulmonary/respiratory diseases in North East India. Dept is treating diseases like asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, Lung cancer, sleep apnea, pneumonia and all other respiratory system related diseases. Department is having pulmonary medicine OPD and IPD, RNTCP/DOTS OPD, DMC and smoking cessation clinic. Dept is the nodal centre for RNTCP for all medical colleges of Noth Eastern region. Dept also proving respiratory intensive care services. Regular services like pulmonary function test, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, lung and pleural biopsy etc. for last two years dept has started post graduate course in pulmonary medicine. There is a planning to initiate endobronchial USG, medical thoracoscopy and sleep laboratory services in feature.
